Second child dies of Bird Flu in Thailand

A second child has died of Avian Flu (Bird Flu) in hospital in Thailand.


His doctor said that he died at 10 am (Thai time) of severe pneumonia after he was admitted on January 15th, following a referral from hospitals in his province, Sukhothai.


The boys mother had died earlier this month. We do not know whether she died of Bird Flu or some other illness.


According to the Thai Government, two boys have died so far and there are five suspected cases of Bird Flu (all children).


Another five adults have died and the authorities suspect they also had Bird Flu. Last Sunday another six-year old boy (the first casualty of Bird Flu in Thailand) died of Avian Flu (Bird Flu). He was from the Kanchanaburi province.
